Unhindered Studios produce Marques Houston's Toyota Arena campaign

The studio spent four weeks building generated promotional videos for the It's All Because of You Experience, recreating the Toyota Arena and the artists on the bill across vertical and long-form formats.

Marques Houston announced the It's All Because of You Experience on 4 January, with the first date set for Toyota Arena in Ontario, California on 25 April and tickets going on sale twelve days later. The show was built as a career retrospective covering his Immature and IMx years, his solo catalogue and new material. The announcement named Ty Dolla Sign, Ray J, Tamar Braxton, Sammie, Eric Bellinger, Day26, Immature, Bobby V, and more guests alongside Houston.

That left a short window to fill an arena, and a promotional problem specific to a lineup of this kind: the draw is the combination of artists rather than any single name, so the material had to put all of them in one place before a ticket buyer would understand what they were being sold.

Unhindered Studios was brought in to produce that material. Over four weeks the studio delivered a set of clips, in vertical format for Instagram and as horizontal long-form content for YouTube, so a single production could carry both without being cropped into something that no longer worked.

The artists were the harder half of it. Each one had to be recognisable at a glance on a phone screen, which meant getting the specifics right, the outfit each had chosen, the hair, the makeup, and the details a fan notices before they can say why something looks wrong, down to the watches and the jewellery. Those went through repeated iterations until each artist matched what they expected to see.

The venue was a different problem. The campaign needed the Toyota Arena itself, because the point of the material was to tell people where to turn up. The building and the surrounding area were rebuilt from reference, and the variables around it, the cars, the weather, the time of day, went through several versions each.

All likenesses were produced with the authorisation of the artists involved. Everything was made in-house on the studio's generative pipeline.

The campaign was produced for the date as originally announced. The lineup later changed, and the Ontario show was cancelled in April.
